Communication is an important key to the process of social and cultural transformation. It plays a vital role in the diffusion of knowledge and new technologies. But in Indian Rural Society the process of development is very slow due to ineffective communi cation with rural masses. The high rate of illiteracy, customs, traditions and other prevailing constraints do not help the communication process.
The role of rural women in all sectors of rural society cannot be undermined. For rural women the relationship between home manage ment and farm management are inse parable. The traditional structure of rural society puts several inhinderances in the communication process of rural women. Therefore, modern scientific information for home and farm managements is limited to folk women. Primarily the present communication structure is male oriented and the women are neglected from its arena.
Therefore, present study aims to study the communication process, making the women as focal point in rural society.
In this empirical work a profile characteristics of rural women were drawn; information sources have been studied; home and farm messages were analysed with the aim to measure effective communication to rural women.
