Case discussion is one of the very effective training methods which help bring real life into class room and training programme. Good cases help the members in understanding the situation faced by someone like himself somewhere, sometime. The members do not feel threatened while discussing the characters described in the cases, since they consider it somebody's real life, and not the member's own life during the training. They explore and discuss the possibilities and alternatives freely. The generalisation often leads to some concepts which are almost experienced personally while dealing with the case. Members of the group thus become more involved in the learning process. The best part of the case discussion method is that it presents the problem not in isolation but in totality with full complexity.
Trainers should have choice to select cases most suitable to the selected group and for selected topics. In order to meet this need, NIESBUD is constantly engaged in developing good cases on Entrepreneurship. The cases developed by NIESBUD are pieces of real life of entrepreneurs, only names and identifying characteristics have been disguised. Each of such cases have the potential to offer learning in more than one areas related to entrepreneurship. The choice is left to the trainer.
