The new edition of this popular text-book contains up-to-date state ment of the law and judicial decisions, with more detailed analysis. The whole text has been re-edited to make it more cohesive and pur poseful.
The book contains an account of the new thrusts in tribunalisation. typified by grievance redressal systems in the Administrative Tribun als Act, The Family Courts Act, the Consumer Protection Act, etc. A special section on various administrative agencies which combine functions such as legislative, quasi-judicial and discretionary, has been added. There is detailed description of the frameworks of agen cies such as the Election Commission, MRTP Commission, Press Council, National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, National Commission for Women, etc.
There is also a detailed section on commission of enquiry, and the chapter on judicial review of administrative discretion is more ex haustive. A critique of public interest litigation and also of the judicial policy regarding admission of writ petitions have been included. New legislations such as the Prasar Bharati Act and the Lokpal Bill have been discussed.
