Summary: In modern India, Muslim community has not shown much participation in modern economic activities. The community, however, is alleged for such a behaviour without much scientific study. Since Muslims are the largest minority, the present study makes an appropriate attempt to investigate the entrepreneurial behaviour of Muslims and finds reasons for their staying outside the mainstreams. In this research work, which comprises eight chapters, Muslim entrepreneurship has been studied with reference to Moradabad town where a large number of Muslim house holders are engaged in the production of Brassware. The study has been designed to examine Muslim entrepreneurship in relation to historical setting, economic and social structure, cultural values & beliefs. Interest ingly power structure of entrepreneurship has also been studied to understand whether it affected the emergence, growth and quality of entrepreneurship. The study successfully demonstrates that entrepreneurship is influenced by political ideology, social structure, power structure and economic structure, whereas religious structure, beliefs or values often respond to socio economic needs, despite the anxiety of the entrepreneurs to conform to the ideals of Islam.
