Summary: The bibliography contains classified and annotated list of research contributions published in the English language on agrarian structure and peasant movements in colonial and post-independence India. Books and articles, contributed to scholarly journals, mostly published during the last two decades, have been indexed. Selected materials published prior to that period were taken either for their historical relevance or for their usefulness as sources of statistical data. Articles for the bibliography have been culled from 35 composite books and 16 scholarly journals. A few Govt. of India reports and mimeographed research papers published by the research institutions of standing have also been included. The research contributions listed in the volume are regionally diverse and of multi disciplinary character. In many ways it re presents the best efforts of Indian social science research which will continue to influence scholarly works for many years to come. This is certain to prove of immense help to those who are now seeking to assess and consolidate the gains made in the last two decades and from there to move on to new questions and new fields.
