New look at Britain's economic policy / edited by Sasan Glyn

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Middlesex; Penguin Books; 1965Description: 179 pSubject(s): DDC classification:
  • 338.9 RHY
Summary: Dame Juliet Rhys-Williams died before this book was com pleted, and it has therefore been edited by her daughter. The references in the text to events since the author's death have, of course, been substituted by the editor for topical references in the original manuscript. Substantial alteration was unnecessary, because events have developed precisely along the lines foreseen by the author. The revised sections have been read by the economist Sir Roy Harrod, a friend of Dame Juliet familiar with her work for many years, who confirms that they accord with her known views. Dame Juliet worked, at various times, in business, in the Civil Service, in public administration (she was a Governor of the B.B.C. and Chairman of the Development Corporation of the new town at Cwmbran), and in politics. She gained a wide knowledge of the nation's affairs, and could speak with experi ence in a great variety of fields. She earned the D.B.E. for her work for public health.
