Inspite of the growth of strong nationalism in South Asia and the countries having been independent for about four decades they still remain under-developed. Even though fast developing they are unable to offset and repel effects of Super Power rivalry in the region. One fall out of this involvement is the induction of sophisticated mili tary hardware resulting in local wars and tensions.
The Seminar on the Security of the Indian Sub-continent: Challenges from Super Power Rivalry studied the problem thoroughly and empha sised the need for pragmatism and concentrate on raising the living standard of the people.
