This work deals with various aspects of the law of copyright in a lucid and exhaustive manner, citing case law from English as well as Indian decisions. It, as in the case of the author's other books under the Intellectual Property Law Series, has provided a topicwise treatment of the subject instead of a monotonous running commentary, so that even laymen interested in the subject, once through the work, can hardly afford to miss it. It discusses in detail the Copyright Act 1957 and the Amendments of 1983 and 1984 and the Rules framed thereunder.
Unlike in the days of old when copyright was associated with literary and musical works only, the concept of it has nowadays extended to all kinds of creation of the intellect, and as copyright now serves a variety of industries, the work takes care to contain within its sweep a wide variety of topics. It also takes account of the impact of the easy movement of copyright works from one country to another and a simple and cheaper method of reproduction of copyright material made possible by technological advancement. A notable feature of this work is an exhaustive treatment of 'Breach of Confidence' and 'Industrial Designs' based on the Designs Act something not dealt with in such detail in any other work. The Appendices include texts of all relevant Acts, both Indian and English and texts of international conventions dealing with copyright.
