Television in India completed 25 years of its existence in September 1984. The seminar brought into focus the needs and problems of women and children in India and deliberated upon the role television and other media have played and can play hereafter to improve the status of these two neglected segments of the society. This volume contains the papers presented by the participants to the seminar. Apart from the role of television to meet the needs of women and children, the papers also make an analysis of the cost of Doordarshan programme for women and children as well as management problems in production of progrmmes for development
