Concern of politics

The idea to bring out a book on the above theme was conceived of immediately after it was decided to hold the 45th All India Political Science Conference at Amritsar and to have it released in December 1986 on the occasion of the conference. It was an ambitious project then, quite comprehensive, practically concern to every aspect to cover of politics of our Country and as Convener of the conference here letters were sent to as many political scientists as possible with the request that they contribute an article on the subject of their interest national/ international. The response to contri bute articles was indeed beyond. expectation and almost everyone: whom I had contacted personally or through letters assured me of a piece. However, when it waslearnt that the conference would not be held in December 1986, as scheduled, the interest/enthusiasm amongst most of the prospective contributors waned. All the same, a few distinguished political Scientists who lauded the very idea of a book on the theme and faith in me that I would not abardon the Project sent me their articles. How could I possibly belie their expectations ! And what occasion would be more appropriate than bringing out the Publication if not at Amritsar at least at the next venue of the conference. Thus once again I set about my task, But then to rekindle the same enthusiasm in those who had earlier assured to contribute articles was too much to expect. Well I had to rest content with whatever material that I could muster, Undoubtedly this offering would have been more comprehensive if it had been released earlier as con templated at Amritsar. The Contributors are specialists in the area they have chosen to write on. Hope fully there is enough material to read and ponder over.
