Summary: The First Edition of the Majumdar's "Commentary on the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989" has been well appreciated by the legal world. Since then just to soothe the ever increasing constant demand of esteemed fraternity, it has been felt necessary to revise the existing work and especially to consolidate and incorporate the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2018 (27 of 2018) as have been occurred in the field of law in hand. The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 plays a crucial and determining role in prevention of atrocities in India. Almost all the leading cases have been discussed in lucid and succinct style. The book has been made up-to-date by incorporating latest case laws on the subject. Even though every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the book, although we have tried our best, we do not claim infallibility. Mistake, if any, brought to our notice will be warm welcomed and corrected in the next edition. It will be more useful to lawyers, Judges, Magistrates, Bar and Bench, Law Colleges Library as well as law students. Sufficient care has been taken and no effort has been spared to make standard work, comprehensive, useful and up-to-date. It is hoped that this edition, will, as the previous edition, occupy a premier position as a classic book on the subject and will satisfy the user's need thoroughly and exhaustively.
