Any new study on the institution of caste undeniably attracts the question of relevance. Questions that may reverberate in a reader's mind are 'why is caste read time and again?' 'Have anthropologists and sociologists made it overrated or does it actually hold the nerve of Indian sub continent in an exceptional way?'
Employing caste as a heuristic approach, the present work tries to explore contemporary lived life in a north Indian village Kathwara, vis-à-vis local religion, economy and politics. The book intends to cater to under-graduate and post-graduate students, researchers, academicians and general interested audience. It puts forth typical ethnographic yle of description and interpretation based on rigorous empiricism.
