Narmada maiya (mother) has sustained us for ages, gave us life and protected our ancestors. Narmada does not emanate from hills, its does not emanate from the melting snow. Narmada takes her shape from the blessing of every single plant, hills of vindhyachal and blesses our lives. With jyotirlinga mahakal we have river shipra, due to her water limitation whole region struggled for years to get water of narmada. Narmada is a major source of drinking water, irrigation and hydro electricity for Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
Rajasthan and Maharashtra also benefit of the power provided by narmada . after around fifty four years of effort sardar sarovar dam has come on narmada in Gujarat. It is the second largest dam in the world. Narmada is one of the seven holy rivers of india but historically narmada is the oldest. Most of our rivers flow towards east but narmada flows westwards. The divine and mystique river has been glorified by the Vedas and later by kalidas and others. It is worshipped as mother goddess narmada for ages out of deep gratitude. Some of the oldest cave paintings in the world over thirty thousand year old are found in the bhim vetka near the banks of narmada. The banks of narmada are strewn with centres of the pilgrimage and temples, where the devotees attend spiritual elevation. This is the first coffee table book on narmada published by shubhi publications who specialize in the publication of coffee table books on art, architecture, music and dance.
