Summary: Bringing out a new edition is always a matter of great pleasure Law being dynamic is always subject of change either through legislation or judicial Interpretations. The matrimonial laws are still reeling in fault grounds, mutual consent and so called irretrievable breakdown. The concept of cruelty is still being expounded as certainly a definition of same especially of mental cruelty is not possible. The courts are waiving of waiting period of 6 months for mutual consent where they find marriage to be completely broken down. Mothers are still not guardians along with father in the statute book, though courts are time and again letting mothers act on behalf of minors. But mercifully law is quite clear that a married minor girls guardian would not be her husband. There had been two major changes in criminal law though not strictly in the ambit of Hindu law. Same sex relationship has been recognized but it is still unclear that if same sex partners decide to get married would same matrimonial laws apply to them or ther would be amendments, further adultery has ceased to be a criminal offence but it is still a fault ground for seeking divorce or judicial separation and co adulterer has to be made a party, Since society is a dynamic body law has to change as not to become anachronistic, change is a way of life and we would grow with it. As always we are indebted to our publishers M/s Allahabad Law Agencies for their meticulous care in bringing out this work. We have had a long pleasant journey with them.
