Participatory research is meant to be a tool for people's mobilisation. How successful is it in developing people's organisa tion and in supporting their struggles? This is the question asked in the present monograph. Based on action research in several countries of Latin America, the authors have put together a methodology and a variety of techniques for the production and dissemination of knowledge among the rural poor as a mode of empowering them. They view this as a tool for people's organisa tions and as a mode of defending the interests of the rural poor.
Dr. Orlando Fals Borda is head of the Punta de Lanza Founda tion, an action research organisation in Bogotá, Colombia.
