Problem of wasteland and forest ecology of India

This compendious volume deals with one of the burning problems of the day i.e., problem of wasteland and its rolling back concept through afforestation. The subject matter is divided into two parts-problem of wasteland and forest eco logy: In first parts, a systematic study has been conducted for the meaning, methods and tech niques of assessment of wasteland alongwith several empirical studies of Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Himalayan regions. A study on tribal community with their parti cipation in the management of wasteland has also been discussed.
In forest ecology, a vivid picture of country's forest resources alongwith Himalayas, Western Ghat has been discussed. A light has been thrown on eucalyptus controversies. Few studies are also reported on forest resources and ecology of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Himalayas. And at the last, the legal aspect of forestry has been highlighted
