Summary: 'Wood Energy' crisis is in no way less serious than the 'Petroleum' crisis. The ever-growing shortage of wood is a matter of deep concern not only for India but for all deve loping countries of the world. In India, a number of agencies/organi zations are directly or indirectly concerned with this vital issue, and a vast infrastructure already exists in the country dealing with some aspect or the other of the Wood Energy Programme. What is needed today is collection, compila tion and integration of information as a systems approach. The present book is the outcome of this realiza tion.
