This book consists, mostly of the research papers, accepted and presented! at World Congresses of the Internationl Political Science Association, and papers presented at Seminars held within the national boundaries of India. These studies will be engrossing especially for the social scientists and the decision makers all over the world, because they deal with the problems faced by almost all the developing societies of the Third World.
One of the studies in this book identi fies the causes of violence in the Indian Society and the reasons for its fluctua tions. In another study, terrorism culmi nating in the assasination of Smt. Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India as one kind of violence used for political ends has been analysed. The most topi cal and the burning problem of National Integration in India has been studied in some depth. Various kinds and levels of challenges to national integration in India together with the efficiency of the responses made up tilnow to meet them have been examined. Attempts have been made to give some suggestions also to confront this problem.
Other research articles give a Third World perspective of the social pattern of sovereign states emerging on the globe because of Non-Aligned Movement. These discuss the concept, meaning and the utility of Non-Aligned Movement in strengthening the forces of peace and development.
The book may be read for a better and more realistic comprehension of the national as well as inter-national society in which we live today.
