Specialist: revelations of a counterterrorist

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: New York; Stein and Day; 1985Description: 212pSubject(s): DDC classification:
  • 303.62 RIV
Summary: Every incident in this book is true and the people are all real. Necessarily the names, including my own, have been changed for security reasons and in some cases minor changes have been made to dates and circumstances to avoid identifying those who worked with me on the operations. Many members of the counter-terrorist community mentioned in this book are still active and many of the situations described are continuing in other forms. My aim has been to protect existing security networks and to avoid damag ing the never-ending task of counter-terrorism. The counter-terrorist agencies are not seeking recognition but there is a general feeling amongst my colleagues that the public will be heartened to learn that the authorities are capable of tackling terrorism with its own weapons. This book is about the world of counter-terrorism as it really is and has to be.
