The mobilization of peasants is widely recognised as socially and politically necessary to bring about a transformation in the conditions of the rurul poor. However, the processes and problems involved in this transformation have yet to be clarified. This book is an attempt to do precisely this, by examining in an analytical framework based on current theories, the structure and activities of peasant organizations in South India.
This book will be required reading for students of social sciences, administrators, political and social workers and all those concerned with social transformation of the rural poor through peasants' movements.
