This book studies the origins, roots and routes concerning Judicial Activism and Social Change.
The first part of the book discusses the components of Jurisprudential Dimensions of Judicial Activism. This part examines the vicissitudes of the vital parameters of the nature of judicial process inasmuch as the role of the judge in making the law. The in depth examination of this parameter has been inevitable because of the interdependence of law and social change. Judge can't be a mere spectator to the existing realities taking place all round him. However, the notion of accountability of the judge to the public from whom they derive legitimacy has still to be worked out. Never the less, the need for reappraisal of the roles of law, lawyers and judges in a developing society. like India is inevitable.
The innovative Apex Court has in recent times broadened the horizons of civil liberties, labour laws, family law, criminal law, taxation laws, etc. The articles incorporated in Parts II, III, IV and V of the book unequivocally demonstrate the escalating impact expressed by PIL/SAL movement on civil liberties, labour laws, family law, criminal law, and other related areas. This movement naturally exhibits the vision for the futurology of f law.
This outstanding book reflects the thought of legal luminaries and contains scholastic papers of great merit. It will make a definite contribution to our knowledge of the law concerning Judicial Activism and will be of immense use to all those interested in the development of law and legal institutions.
