Summary: The study of environment, nutritional deficiency and its improvement with reference to crop land use is a new dimension in the field of geographical research. In the rural areas the dietary pattern is generally found according to the cropping pattern. The population growth along with the deficiency diseases and malnutrition problem is increasing due to unbalanced and poor diet. And, therefore, nutritional planning is very necessary to protect the rural population from its after moths. The present study is based on the first-hand information. A total of 542 families and 1084 children from 17 villages of Sagar-Damoh plateau, the central part of India, have been surveyed comprehensively. In this study while on the one hand the village-wise detailed environmental conditions, Income group-wise and village-wise nutrients intake, malnutrition and deficiency disease pattern have been discussed, on the other hand several useful suggestions have been given for nutrition Improvement. To Increase food production and to avoid nutritional deficiency, first attempt has been made to suggest the proposed cropping pattern through village maps for change in the existing cropping pattern on village level taking into account the environmental conditions and particular nutrient deficiency.
