The book examines the Malthusian- Boserupean dichotomy with special reference to demographic situations obtaining in Madhya Pradesh, the Central Indian State. The temporal and spatial dimensions of population and agricultural interrelationships
have been analysed in depth with a view to identifying trends of changes taking place in the Indian context. The study reveals that Malthusian and Boserupean forces have had intermittent operations which constitute parts of the long cycle of population-
resource dynamism in this part of the world. The study also seeks to reso Ive the practical controversy between theoretical postul ates of Malthus and Boserup.
