The Indian economy has been facing many problems in recent years. While some of these problems are the result of certain natural factors operating within the economy, others are the outcome of certain economic policies and measures adopted and implemented in the country and still others are the consequences of of the failures of economic planning and policies in attaining their targets. What ever may be the specific causes of such problems, these problems have a common result that manifests itself in retarding the rate of economic development of the country and in perpetuating the under developed character of the Indian economy The success of any programme aimed at bringing about the rapid economic development of the country, therefore, requires a full understanding of the nature of the diverse problems that are being faced by the Indian economy at present so as to adopt suitable measures to overcome the basic factor that cause such prob lems. The present book is an attempt at analysing some of the serious problems faced by the Indian economy at present and at suggesting certain remedial mea sures.
