Summary: Economic Co-operation bet ween India and the United States has several facets, a study of which is necessary for any fuller understanding of the growth process in India. This co-operation between the two leading democracies of the world has played an important role in the post independence economic development of India. Half of the foreign aid for India has come from the United States. Like any other major eco nomic phenomenon the eco nomic co-operation between these two countries has raised some issues that need to be carefully examined in order to make this co-operation more fruitful to both these countries. This book contains articles by prominent public men, both Indian and American, that set forth the basic facts about this historic co-opera tion and analyses a wide range of connected issues. This study should appeal to all students of international eco nomic relations and of the dynamics of foreign aid and trade and their impact on national economic progress.
