Summary: This was the first research project taken up by the Centre. Some of the general features of the study as also its limitations have been explained in the Introduction. The method employed has been described in Chapter IV and the findings have been presented in the following three chapters. The project was rather onerous for a new organization. Apart from other difficulties, a a principal handicap was the changing and inadequate research personnel of the Centre in charge of the project at different stages. If the team of workers who are in charge of such a research project happen to be the same throughout continuity of outlook and perspective would obviously be easy.
