Summary: This book is a compilation of all the discussions, case studies, and theoretical papers presented at the Workshop on Women and Child Workers in the Unorganised Sector which was held at Delhi in March 1983. The first section of this book contains recommendations and group reports on the problems of working women and children in India. The second section narrates the field experiences of grass root level workers. In the third section are given papers presented and discussed during the Workshop and the fourth section consists of a selected bibliography and a list of resource persons. This book in fact presents the practical problems faced by social workers, policy makers and administrators involved in promoting women and child development programmes. This should aid the search for practical programmes by providing the necessary stimulus and the framework for widespread, in-dept discussion of the issue of women ani child workers in India. The ers and discussions contained in this slim volume should be valuable to state social welfare boards, voluntary organisations and funding agencies as well as UN organisations such as ILO, UNICEF, UNDP, etc. in the formulation of policies and programmes pertaining to women and child workers in developing countries.
