This second in the series of micro-level planning studies by AVARD shows how the readily available local statistics on most socioeconomic parameters can be used not only to prepare a profile of the block but also a workable first indicative plan at a short notice. For this maximum cooperation is needed from the local administration, opinion leaders and common citizens. Since the perspective of need and prospects of development in villages given here reflect people's own ideas, one can expect their full participation and involvement in the execution of the plan.
Without compromising with any technical lapse, one should note that the local population's views on issues are sound. This has been corroborated in the case of irrigation schemes. Subsequent to the preparation of this document, a time-taking geohydrological survey by and large con firmed the general suitability of tracts for various irrigation schemes. The fact gives moral boost to the local people and the voluntary body preparing the plan.
To further build up the confidence of the local population it will be only desirable that they are involved through voluntary bodies in the implementation of planned schemes. Such work done either through the government or contractors will dampen people's enthusiasm
