This is a statistical profile of the country's economy consisting of 191 tables, and providing a wealth of information. For the convenience of rcaders, these have been grouped into 19 chapters. This valuable work has been prepared by the economic wing of The Economie Times Research Bureau under the supervision of Mrs Kamla Suri, Deputy Chief and Research Officer, Mr S. Gangadharan.
The Economic Times Research Bureau has been in existence from the very inception of The Economic Times. It had its origin in the belief of the Late Shanti Prasad Jain, the then Chairman of Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd., that the new financial daily should have a research wing of its own to carry out independent research and support the editorial staff.
One section of the Research Bureau deals with the corporate sector covering all aspects of its functioning.
The other section is engaged in the collection, collation and interpretation of Data relating to economic and social developments both in India and abroad.
