These essays, written in memory of Professor S. N. Ganguly and edited by S. P.
Banerjee and Shefali Moitra, are an expression of regard and love by those who were
closely associated with him. His early death deprived the Indian philosophical world of
one of the most pleasant, committed, forceful, and fresh thinkers in contemporary
India. The essays profess to center on issues which were the main theme of Ganguly's
