Summary: The Generalisation of the General Theory', first published in 1952 in The Rate of Interest and Other Essays (of which the present book under the new title is a second edition), was an attempt to extend Keynes's theory of employment into the field of long-run dynamic analysis. This was to a large extent smothered in mainstream teaching, but the contemporary situation shows that there were many insights here that should have been followed up. A new introduction fills in some gaps in the original work and, at the same time, reconciles Keynesian analysis with the revival of classical teaching introduced by Piero Sraffa.
