This work is a pioneering attempt to survey the various problems of agri cultural labourers and bonded labour prevalent in different states of India. The study intends to explore the socio economic prospective of institution of slavery and exploitation, manifested in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharastra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Orissa state.
It out-lines the objectives, scope, methodology and sets out the significant findings of the study. It makes the pene trative survey of the problems besides presenting a comprehensive view of legislative policy measures and useful suggestions.
The case studies undertaken with the help of sample data, bring into light some interesting and useful findings to formulate policy measures to eradicate the problem. Being a serious research work, the work ensures an attractive reading to the scholars and policy makers.
