Human geography written by majid husain is a reference book, which gives an in-depth account of human evolution in the indian sub-continent, the geographical impact on the same, with well-researched facts about the different races, their customs and culture, the development of these cultures, and the part played by geographical facts on these developments. The importance of rivers, agricultural lands, availability of water, and such factors for the development of civilizations and the resultant urbanization are well established by the author. As is evident from the title, the book deals with human races at the macro level. The factors facilitating or supporting human settlement, with authentic examples, are discussed in a separate chapter. The author also discusses the population and the patterns followed by evolving populace, which is dictated by geography. Majid Husain is a professor of geography and the head of the department from Jamia milieu islamia, New Delhi. He has authored books like geography of India, evolution of geographical thought, and world geography. He has written or edited almost 50 books on geography, most of which are recommended material for many courses and tests, including UPSC, as they give accurate information about the Indian subcontinent, which is invaluable to a civil servant.
