Public Enterprises (PEs) are considered as an important instrument to accelerate the process of socio-economic transformation, both in India and the United Kingdome (UK). Investments in PEs in India have been increasing substantially at the Central and State levels. While greater emphasis is laid on the expansion of PEs in India in the national five-year plains, it is necessary to ensure that PEs increase their productivity and maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
