Summary: The present study thus makes a useful contribution to our understanding of the nature and the impact of macroeconomic policies pursued in the SAARC countries. Based on this under standing, it may be possible to identify some common elements in their macroeconomic policies and evolve certain degree of coordination for forging economic cooperation among themselves on the one hand and with the rest of the world on the other. This would help in making more efficient use of the domestic resource endowments of the SAARC countries achieving their developmental goals."
