Summary: It was a decade ago that we, along with other oil importing countries, felt the first major shock in the world oil market. The years that followed witnessed concerted and determined action on the part of the Government to step up exploration for and productive oil, coal and other forms of energy on the one hand and promote conservation and effeciency in the use of these resources on the other. Despite the commendable progress made by the country in the energy sector during the last few years there are important aspects that continue to cause anxiety to energy planners and administrators.
