Summary: A national Seminar on the theme "Science, Development and Environment" was held in the D.A.V. College, Muzaffar nagar in February 1986. The Four-day seminar was sponsored by the Minstry of Environment, Forests and Wildlife, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Ocean Development U.G.C. and other organisations and institutions of the country. Nearly two hundred delegates from India and about six scientists from abroad attended the seminar. The main objective of the seminar was to discuss the progress science and technology has made in recent years, its importance and value in the economic development of the country and the impact it has created on the environment of India. This volume contains most of the papers presented in this seminar.
