Summary: The present work, the third in the series of Motilal Nehru Memorial Lectures, were de livered under the auspices of the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies by Shri Justice M. H. Beg, former Chief Justice of India and pre sently Chairman, Minorities Commission, on a very topical subject, namely, "Impact of Secularism on Life and Law". In these lectures, the author has dwelt upon a number of aspects and facets of the concept of se cularism. Shri Justice Beg has exposed the philosophical foun dations of secularism in India and has examined secularism in the perspective of contemporary governing system in our coun try. Besides the text of the two lectures, the book in cludes the appendices contain ing constitutional provisions re lating to secularism and a Draft Declaration on Religious Free dom in India as adopted by the Minorities Commission.
