Summary: The contributions to this book were presented at the Regulation Conference and during the subsequent Regulation Workshop, held at the International Institute of Management of the Science Centre, Berlin, 1-15 July 1981. The conference was supported by a generous grant from the Thyssen Foundations, for which we are extremely grateful. The objective of the conference was twofold : First, it provided an oppurtunity for the exchange of the latest developments in economic research on an international level.
