Summary: Amongst the aid giving nations, the U.S. has been the main contributor of economic aid to India. And there is no doubt that India moved forward by leaps and bounds as a result of U.S. assistance. Her rate of economic growth registered an increase and, at the same time, she achieved political and economic stability. U.S. assistance also paved the waving of social change. However, all is not well with the sprit of U.S. aid, because its impact on the Indian economy and politics has not been favorable, and India generally tends to treat it as an unwelcome guest.
