A seminar was held in July 1980 in New Delhi on the broad area of world economy, especially as India's Sixth Five Year Plan for 1980-85 was in the process of being finalised. The themes were formulated in the light of the new, emerging pattern of North-South relationship, envisaged in the Brandt Commission report within the outlines of a "programme for survival", and the agenda conceived in terms of understanding and promoting India's role in the establishment of the new international economic order.
The book, based on seminar proceedings, will be of interest to all those concerned with questions relating to national economy and India's role in the emergence of the new economic order for her own as well as for the benefit of other sovereign nations and formulation of the development strategies for the 80s.
