The economic growth and development of the country depends not only on the "resources management" but also on the "environment management". The focus of development lies in resource utilization.
The science of environmental management is by itself an interdisciplinary area, and this book, therefore, is an attempt in this direction to consolidate at one place, the views of such a group of interdisciplinary experts with wide practical knowledge that could help the planners in planning mining and associated activities from environmental management point of view.
The various chapters provide an insight into the literature and the existing know-how in terms of Indian context. The contributions highlight the important issues and problems like the techno-economics of environmental management, the coal mining scenario of India, the management and reclamation in lignite mining, the problems of lead-zinc mining, the environmental impact and its importance. Followed by specific problems like acid mine drainage, noise pollution, impact of under ground mining subsidence and mine subsidence, impact of blasting, land reclamation and its associated biological reclamation, health problems, impact of mining on water regime, society and environment, with a closing chapter on environmental systems. The economic growth and development of the country depends not only on the "resources management" but also on the "environment management".
