Conscious of the problems of tribal communities in India, the National Institute of Community Development held a national workshop on Perspectives on Tribal Development from April 18-20, 1974. This workshop was organized in order to provide a forum for social scientists, administrators and non-official social and political workers for evolving suitable strategies for the welfare of tribal. The contributions made both in the form of papers as well as discussions constitute a broad survey of the various problems and the priorities which need to be given to their solution.
This volume brings together the papers presented at the workshop and the proceedings of discussions on issues of conceptual and contemporary significance.
