The present thesis on activist law and jurisprudence has been inspired by great thoughts of a little man, lofty ideals of a humble personality and unfathomable com passion of a world citizen. That man is Justice V. R. Krishna lyer. The chapters that follow are based primarily on his jurisprudential thoughts on constitution, democracy, law and justice. The idea is to bring into relief the various factors that obstruct the teeming millions of India in obtaining justice-social, economic and political-and to highlight the measure, jurisprudential and legal, necessary for removing those obstructions and bringing to the lowliest of the lowly the justice for which 'We the People of India' have given ourselves the Constitution and established a Socialist Secular Democratic Republic.
