The Constituent Assembly (Legislative) Rules of Pro cedure and Conduct of Business in force immediately before the commencement of the Constitution of India, were modi fied and adapted by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 118 (2) of the Con stitution. These rules were published under the title of "Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the House of the People", in the Gazette of India Extraordinary Part I, Section I, dated the 17th April, 1952.
2. These Rules of Procedure were amended by the Speaker from time to time on the recommendations of the Rules Committee of the House. The proceedings of the sitting of the Rules Committee held on the 15th April, 1950 and minutes of sittings of the Committee held during the period 1951 to March, 1957 have been laid on the Table of the House vide Lok Sabha Debates dated the 30th May, 22nd August and 22nd December, 1956, 21st and 27th March, 1957.
