Summary: On 22 November 1954, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved a special report on economic conditions and development prepared by the Committee on Information from Non-Self-Governing Territories which met in New York from 20 August to 13 September 1954. The points raised in the report are summarized in Chapter I of this volume. The remaining chapters contain the studies on economic conditions and development in the Non-Self-Governing Territories prepared for the Committee on the basis of infor mation transmitted to the Secretary-General during 1953 and previous years.¹ This volume is part of the annual series containing summaries and analyses of information on Non-Self-Governing Territories and of the special studies on economic, social and educational conditions in Non-Self-Governing Territories. The volumes published previously are listed on the back of the title page.
