Summary, etc. | The present revised and enlarged edition of Indo-Soviet Relations analyses the history of Moscow's attitude towards developments on the Indian subcontinent to the present day.

Ever since this book was first published over two years ago a series of explosive events-the liberation of Bangladesh and renewed hostility between India and Pakistan-have occurred which made a thorough revision of the earlier work necessary. Hardening of old attitudes and the evolution of new solutions had to be taken into account.

This volume therefore not only covers the events which led up to the December 1971 Indo-Pak conflict, but goes further to comprehensively detail and examine general soviet policy towards India. Kaushik concludes that the Soviet Union has acquitted itself well in South Asia by following a policy conducive to peace, progress and stability. The importance of this work cannot be over-estimated. |
