Various approaches and strategies of rural development have been discussed and worked out in India over last three decades. Last but most important of such concepts, the Integrated Rural Development Project has, of late, aroused great expectations in the countryside. The involvement of commercial banks has added a new dimension to the experiment. The literature on Integrated Rural Dev lopment, as such, is negligible and that in relation to commer cial banks is almost nonexistent.
