Summary, etc. Trees have been serving the mankind since ages. They provide us the basic necessities like food, shelter and fodder apart from providing us many other advantages that are either direct or indirect. They provide us fruits of different shapes, colours and sizes that are nutritive and do not need any recommendation for their use by the mankind. Apart from man, they are food providers for the birds and animals. Houses and many other structures are constructed with the help of wood from the trees. In the easiest way, a hut can be made from the bamboo by joining the strips and covering it with the grass. This provides shelter that does not need device to either keep it cool or warm. In fact, our whole life style is centred around the trees.

The advantages of trees, their description and suitability to different agro-climatic conditions along with their role in conserving the environment have been discussed in this book. Ways and means have been suggested to get success in plantation of these trees in places where we feel that trees may not grow.

In this book the author has discussed in a systematic and lucid manner Why Trees?, Kinds of Trees, Distribution of Trees, Management of Trees, Trees in Relation to Environment, and Description of about 130 Trees which are important for mankind and the environment.
