Summary, etc. The present volume is the outcome of the material generated during the course of implementation of the Population Policy Research Project entitled "Mobilization of National and State Policy Makers on Population Policy at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. It documents learnings and experiences of implementation of the National and State Population Policies. The unique contribution of this book relates to the formulation of implementable District Action Plans (DAPs) for population stabilisation. The Districts selected in this study for drawing up DAPS include: Muzaffarpur in Bihar; Chattarrpur in Madhya Pradesh; Alwar in Rajasthan and Budayun in Uttar Pradesh.<br/><br/>This volume contains 11 chapters. Introductory chapter outlines the several key problems of population stabilization efforts in selected four Empowered Action Group (EAG) States of India listed above, which have a considerable degree of commonality. The salient features of the methodology adopted in formulation of DAPs have been explained. The second chapter provides an overview of the population scenario in India with particu lar reference to selected four EAG States. The third and fourth chapters are devoted to population scenario in Bihar and District Action Plan (DAP) of Muzaffarpur District. Chap ters five and six deal with the population scene in Madhya Pradesh and DAP of Chhatarpur District. Chapters seven and eight are concerned with population scenario in Rajasthan and DAP of Alwar District. Chap ters nine and ten deal with the population scene in Uttar Pradesh and DAP of Budayun District. The concluding chapter eleven presents the findings of this book and suggests the agenda for future research.<br/><br/>This book would be extremely useful to the demographers; health-educators; economists; social and family welfare agencies of the government at all levels; development administrators and policy makers in government, NGOs, other voluntary agencies and Self Help Groups.
